Chapter 7
World History
- -Trade was one of the best ways to communicate
with the other side of the world.
- -There were three big Road’s that people exchange
and communicated. Silk roads, sand roads, and sea roads.
- -Silk road: - for 2000 years exchange across
Eurasia
- -These roads were connected Middle East, Europe,
Asia and part of India.
- -On this road they exchange; silk, bamboo, paper,
ginger, furs, amber, copper vessels, slaves, cotton, herbal medicine, dried
fruits, gold coins, glassware, jewelry, olive oil, and so on.
- -Since the road was covered a big area each
places had there own stuff and they trade it.
- -Beside the stuff exchange they also exchange
Gods. Most of the merchants are materialistic because that was there life based
on. The Indian people specially Buddhism religion were against materialistic,
but since they became a merchant they become materialist…. This shows there is
a religion shift.
- -Also they culture exchange between the
countries, like Indian with Europe, china and middle east countries, also
language exchange.
- -The worst part was disease transit. The merchant
were take the disease and go to all over the road route. -During that time there
were a lot of people and solders were die.
- - Sea Roads: - this road had a lot of port and
commerce center.
- -Venice was one of the major centers of commerce.
- -This road is a bit different from Silk roads
because this road has a big land to cover and involves a lot of different kind
of countries.
- -Also these roads traveled most with the ship.
- -They usually exchange spicy, cotton, copper,
ivory, Gold, and so on.
- -But most of the stuff is depend on where the
ship came from cause if the ship came from china they expect spicy but if the
ship came from India Ivory and gold. Arabia ship brings perfumes.
-
-Also this ship didn’t go anytime they want because the
weather might be bad for the ship so they have to wait the best time to go. For
example from November to February they ship only can go toward -Madagascar and
from April to September the ship only can go toward to India and Asia.
- -Sand Roads: - this road across the Sahara
- -This road most focuses what goes out from Africa
to Euroasia.
- -On this road the main transport was animals.
Camel can stay without water for 10 days so people used Camels to transfer
during the Sahara road.
- -Gold and slavery was the most items they
transfer from Africa to Middle east. Islamic religion was the major religion
during that time and I would like say the merchant bring this religion to
Africa.
